Liberal elitists are howling about how disrespectful these five drivers are. They believe that since they would drop everything to answer a White House invite, that everyone else should, too. Never mind that these drivers may have prior scheduled appearances with fans. Fans that have waited months to meet their heroes for an autograph or a picture. Fans who are suffering the most from the current administration's policies.
I would go to the White House, if invited, no matter who was President. However, every American is free (for now) to choose to accept invitations or not.
I try to live my life in a certain manner. I try to be honest with people, I try to stay the course once a decision has been thought out and made and I try to abide by the law. I understand there are people who believe in and respect the office of POTUS and evidently aren't that concerned with who resides there but I don't believe the current resident of our White House honors any of the tenets I try to live up to and for those reasons I would have to respectfully decline that person's invitation... And you're right, this still remains one of our freedoms that haven't been usurped away from us yet...
ReplyDeleteI guess you're a better man than I am Gene.
Well, sounds like Dwindy is a perfect prospect for the next beer summit! lol BTW, I agree with Dwindy's sentiments. There are a number of people who do not respect this president. I am one of them. His numerous appointments of what I consider, communists, tax cheats, and otherwise, unqualified people of questionable attributes, to positions of high "czar" positions, is one thing. But his associations though out his life, which he himself described in his two auto biographies (with the aid of ghost riders) speak volumes about his character, and nature. If only more voters had read his books, maybe they wouldn't have voted for the "image" of the sophisticated, suave, black candidate. I'm all for a black president. As long as he's not a socialist, with an agenda against capitalism, and the U.S. constitution!
ReplyDeleteLOL... I meant "ghost writers". ...and the appointments are more likely simple Marxists. But I don't abide either way.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything both you guys say. Except for Dwindy suggesting I'm a better man LOL. I would accept a WH invite just to say I went there. Even claiming to have met the most inept Pres of all time is something, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteAs of later yesterday, Kurt Busch claims that he always intended to go to the WH, and doesn't know how his name appeared on the no-show list.
ReplyDeleteCR... Even the Dude doesn't abide with Marxists.... Or Nihilists. LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL... Say, friend - you got any more of that good sarsaparilla?
ReplyDeleteI, too, am another who would turn down the invitation. I know they say respect the office not the man, but how can you respect the office when you have absolutely no respect for the man in the office?
ReplyDeleteOn another note, the man has absolutely no sense of timing- or probably more correctly, no respect for NASCAR. The Super Bowl, World Series, and NBA champs all go to the White House within weeks of their wins. It's been what, 9 1/2 months since Jimmie won his 5th straight?
